A little bit about myself:
I am originally from upstate New York and attended college in that region. I graduated from New York Chiropractic College in March of 1999. The day after graduation my twin brother and I packed the car with what little we had and traveled West to a finer location. I have run offices and practiced in many locations on the West Coast since graduating, before settling where I am currently. I spent a year in Portland, Oregon getting my feet wet in my profession and learning what life was like outside of school. I decided to move to San Diego for a better quality of life. I practiced in three offices over a two-year period in San Diego. This period of time was spent developing my skills as a chiropractor and learning how to run a business. An opportunity in Seattle came my way and I decided to travel north to open an office inside of a health club. This was my first chance to run a business the way I wanted and to treat patients with an individualized personal approach. This was an amazing period of growth for me as I began to learn what it took to truly care for a patient and to understand their needs. After two years in Seattle and two offices in two different health clubs, I was ready to get back to my friends, family, future wife, sunshine, and surf in San Diego. Upon my return to San Diego I found my current office space and decided to set up shop. And so it began, the birth of Robek Chiropractic Sports Rehabilitation Center. I have been at this location since 2004. Continued below

What are my interests and why did I become a chiropractor?

I have always been very active in athletics from childhood and throughout college. My main sports of interest were, football, hockey, and rugby. Playing these sports brought about a fair share of injuries for me and rehabilitating them came naturally. Because of this I began to gain interest in physical medicine and this sparked my pursuit of the chiropractic profession. As I learned more about chiropractic and rehabilitation I felt that choosing this career would allow me to be involved in health care and athletics at the same time.

My injuries and how they benefit you

I have suffered two severe injuries that have made me an expert in treating patients with similar problems. I had a shoulder dislocation problem when I was active in football and rugby. This injury has motivated me to learn as much as I can about how to treat and rehabilitate my shoulder condition. Because of what was a selfish reason to master the shoulder has now in turn helped many past patients with their shoulder injuries. I have become very effective and efficient at diagnosis and treating these types of injuries. I have also suffered a severe lower back injury while snowboarding. I landed on ice, directly on my sacrum, after losing control from a jump at 10 feet in the air. This injury compressed every disc in my spine from lower back to neck. After 5 minutes of complete paralysis I was able to move again. Unfortunate for me but fortunate for my future lower back patients I can relate to their condition. I work daily to ensure my injury does not come back to haunt me. This personal expertise has helped many of my lower back pain patients get better and stay better.

My accomplishments

I am currently working as one of the chiropractors for the PGA Tour. This entails traveling to the tournaments and working on the athletes before and after their round. In short, I provide adjustments to the players, muscle work (Active Release Technique) and structural recommendations to the players through out the tournament. It has been an honor for me to work with some of the best golfers in the world.

I am currently working on a CCSP certification (Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician) which will be completed November of this year.

In addition I am a full body certified Active Release Technique provider.

The types of professional athletes that I have worked with range from golf, hockey, rugby, football, figure skating, basketball to dance.

I have developed a class that has been warmly welcomed by both my patients and the community. This class is known as “Chiro Class”. Spinal strengthening, postural corrective and core strengthening exercises are taught and performed during the hour. The intention of the class is to teach people what they should be doing at home to rehabilitate and strengthen their body so they do not have to be dependent on a therapist their entire life.

I have successfully treated thousands of people since I have graduated almost 10 years ago. I have helped athletes heal from injuries, and return to their sport at 100%. I have helped many people feel better and enjoy a better quality of life. That is my purpose and that is what I consider my greatest accomplishment.
